While it can be fun to detail every aspect of your build for all the world to read, please consider that running older software means that system may be vulnerable to malware or other attacks that could leverage that information.
Here are some ideas to stay safe as you game on retro PCs:
- Don’t connect retro build(s) to the network or Internet at all, or at least disconnect it when you don’t need the network
- Don’t use your retro build(s) for anything financial or deeply personal
- Don’t post details of every software version and hardware vendor of your build(s)
- Disable or uninstall all features and software you don’t need, like “Internet Explorer” and “Outlook”
- Don’t keep networked applications like browsers running while you’re gaming
- If you live stream, consider capturing and streaming from an entirely separate machine, so the retro PC can stay offline
